Jerry Bates has worked in education for over 35 years in both higher education institutions and Independent Schools, serving in many leadership roles in fundraising, admissions, Assistant Head and now as Head of School at Riverfield Country Day School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He holds an Ed.D ABD in Educational Leadership and Curriculum Supervision and is currently writing his doctorate dissertation. Jerry has contributed to several published articles and book chapters, and is currently co-authoring a book on environment, materials and inquiry as provocations for learning to be published in the summer of 2024. Jerry also consults with schools and school districts, mentors educational leaders, and presents regionally, nationally and internationally. He serves on leadership committees within the Independent School Association of the Southwest and is an active member of Rotary. My wife Amy and I have two boys, Austin and Braden, and a daughter Caroline. Austin is a Riverfield alumnus of the Class of 2017 and Braden is a member of the Class of 2019. Caroline is in her Senior year. When not at school, I enjoy quality time with my family, primarily boating and participating in water sports. My other hobbies include ice hockey and golf.
